Akira-Inspired Civilians by Papsikels

Image
For fans of cyberpunk aesthetics and anime classics, this release from 3D designer Papsikels is a real treat. Drawing inspiration from the iconic film Akira , Papsikels has created a set of 3D-printable miniatures based on the main characters of the Capsule Gang (Kaneda's team) and they’re perfect for tabletop gaming. 3D Printed by TabletopXtra_SciFi via eBay The collection features seven distinct figures. Each character is sculpted in expressive poses that capture the rebellious energy of the original film. What makes these miniatures especially versatile is their lack of weapons -  a rare and welcome choice in a hobby often dominated by combat-ready figures. Because these characters aren’t armed, they can easily be repurposed as generic sci-fi or cyberpunk civilians. Whether you’re populating a neon-lit street scene, building a dystopian diorama, or adding depth to your gaming campaign, these figures bring style and personality without being locked into a specif...

Sci-Fi Miners Inspired by The Last Prospector

Image
The Stargrave universe continues to be a rich source of inspiration for hobbyists, and the Last Prospector scenario book is no exception. Its themes of frontier survival, salvage missions, and desperate exploration have sparked another addition to my growing lineup of custom miniatures - this time, a gritty crew of sci-fi miners and workers. This latest kitbash combines parts from three distinct miniature ranges to create a group of characters that feel tough, tired, and probably overworked: Bodies: Kromlech Desert Dwellers – These provide a rugged, utilitarian base, perfect for characters who’ve spent years in harsh environments. Arms & Heads: Fireforge Northmen Folk Rabble – Their expressive, weathered features and simple clothing add a grounded, civilian feel. Headgear: Dust 47 PLA Hats – These distinctive hats give the figures a unique silhouette and a sense of cultural depth, while reinforcing their role as labourers under the sun (or twin suns). The result? A crew who loo...

Grimdark Citizens from Across the Realms

Image
If you're a fan of gritty sci-fi settings and versatile miniatures, the Across the Realms line might just be your next obsession. I recently discovered their "Grimdark Citizens Collection" , a set of 8 3D-printed figures that blend gothic futurism with a surprising degree of adaptability. The designs are unmistakably influenced by Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 universe - complete with skull motifs, heavy robes, and industrial detailing. These figures feel right at home in the Imperium of Man, evoking the atmosphere of hive cities, Mechanicus enclaves, and shadowy underworlds. But what makes this set stand out is its customization potential. With a bit of hobby finesse - such as filing down prominent skulls or repainting with a different palette - these miniatures can easily transition into other sci-fi and dystopian settings. Once modified, the Grimdark Citizens can serve as NPCs, civilians, or background characters in a wide range of tabletop games: Star Wars: Th...
