Star Wars Bounty Hunter Ship

Another Star Wars toy has been repurposed for wargaming usage. This time it's been painted up to be a Bounty Hunter or Smuggler ship.

This will be sacrilege to some, but I picked up an old broken Star Wars toy off eBay and gave it a repaint to use with my 28 mm figures. Even the wings still move to show it's in flight mode or landed!

USS Thames NCC 73429 reporting for duty.

Finally, I have got around to completing my 28 mm 3D printed warp shuttle. The most time-consuming part was painting the various interior pieces. Additionally, I ordered some decals of an eBay trader. Although sized for a smaller vessel, the decals are suitable for the shuttle. They make it obvious that the shuttle is Starfleet, whilst being unobtrusive for me to potentially use it in non Trek related scenarios. Anyway, the ship has had a spray of varnish and is now ready for operational duty. Checking the Warp manifold Decals on the roof What I really love about this shuttle is the ability to vary the interior based on the mission parameters. Want to have a cargo bay? Want to have a crew area for a longer mission? All of that is possible. This shuttle model bridges the gap between a standard shuttle and the larger Runabout class One possible set-up Another variation And another

28mm 3d printed Star Trek shuttle - started on the interior

Image
With the exterior painting pretty much finished and just awaiting the transfers I've ordered, the time has come to start painting some interior components of the shuttle. First up, the two consoles for Con and Operations. I ended up going for a simple black colour scheme with screens highlighted in blue and green. Conn & Ops stations Towards the rear of the cockpit are the two other consoles. Again, I've gone for a simple black paint scheme, but with red trimming, reminiscent of the original series. I had considered the muted pastels of the Next Gen era, but they removed some character in the models. Science & Engineering stations The shuttle has been designed with a modular interior, so it can be reconfigured based on the mission parameters. Currently, I've got the shuttle rear set-up to provide a crew living space with enough room to store cargo. Food preparation and dining areas Crew/cargo area from above. What's left to do?...

28mm Warp Shuttle - Exterior painting completed

Finally, finished the painting of the exterior of my Warp Shuttle. A combination of reds and greys has it looking suitably Starfleet. Now for the interior!

28mm 3d printed Star Trek shuttle

Over the festive period I managed to make a start on the painting of my shuttle. First up, the warp engines have been detailed. Light grey paint is used on any raised panels and dark grey paint in recessed panels. The engine colours are based on the schemes used in the Next Generation. Warp Engines With the warp engines completed, I've painted the upper section of the hull. Both the upper section and warp engines received a base coat of Humbrol Matt Grey spray. Upper Section Again, light grey paint is used on any raised panels and dark grey paint in recessed panels. I then added some additional red trimming. Also, the thrusters have had a coat of sandy yellow (appears darker in the photos). Next up is the lower hull and the internal equipment sections.

28mm 3d printed Star Trek style warp shuttle - habitation expansion

Image
I recently took delivery of the habitation expansion set for my Star Trek style warp shuttle. The set provides some additional scenery to equip the shuttle with, such as a combined toilet/shower, locker, kitchen area, dining area and another set of bunk beds. This allows the shuttle to be equipped differently based on the mission specs. Also, it answers a personal bugbear of mine with Starfleet shuttles - namely the lack of bathroom facilities. I know it's for 28mm figures, but at least they have all their facilities! Expanded bridge Close up of the crew quarters Combined Toilet and Shower cubicle Smaller crew quarters and storage bay Extended crew quarters

Various 28mm Spacecraft

Ahead of working on the newly acquired Warp Shuttle, I've been trying to get some of my existing models painted, off the painting table and ready for use. First up, a resin kit (not sure of the manufacturer) of a small shuttle based on the design from the original 'V' TV series. I used a simple paint job and added some old 40K transfers for markings. Next up, a plastic model of the Moonbus from '2001'. This was supposed to be painted off white, but I decided to go with something more colourful. Also, I've tried to make it look more rough and ready and barely maintained. I did add a transfer from 40K to give the ship its name of the 'Blue Viper'. Additionally, I had some spare battle damage and scorch mark transfers and added those to make it look a bit more used. The Blue Viper.

28mm 3d printed Star Trek style warp shuttle

Earlier this year, there was a Kickstarter run by 2nd Dynasty for some 28mm compatible spaceships. I was pleased to see that one of the ships (a shuttle) was available as a Warp Shuttle variant and looked very suitable for Star Trek. However, my initial interest was then dampened by the fact that the Kickstarter was just for the files and that you would have to print the ships yourself. Not having a 3d printer, I let my interest wane. My interest was recently renewed by a couple of threads on Lead Adventure Forum and The Miniatures Page. Another wargamer had one of the 2nd Dynasty ships custom printed for him. More importantly the printer they used was based in the UK. Having found their website ( https://www.proteus3dmodelling.com/ ), I sent them an email asking if they could print the Warp Shuttle version. Imagine my joy when they replied with a yes! Proteus 3D Modelling were very professional and kept informed with updates and pictures of my shuttle. Additionally, they consulte...
