Various Dalek leagues for Pulp Alley

Image
The Daleks were engineered by the scientist Davros during the final years of a thousand-year war between his people, the Kaleds, and their enemies the Thals. With some Kaleds already badly mutated and damaged by nuclear war, Davros genetically modified the Kaleds and integrated them with a tank-like, robotic shell, removing their every emotion apart from hate. His creations soon came to view themselves as the supreme race in the universe, intent on purging the universe of all non-Dalek life. Dalek Troopers Davros led league

A Cursed Earth league for Pulp Alley

Image
Following the Atomic Wars of 2070 most of the United States became a radioactive wasteland. With only the three Mega-Cities surviving (on the East Coast, California, and Texas), the remainder of the country became known as the "Cursed Earth". Although considered unfit for human habitation, the Cursed Earth is populated by all manner of creatures, scraping a living in a tough environment. Since the Atomic Wars, genetic mutations appeared, but mutants are banned from living in the cities, so they are forced to make their homes in the Cursed Earth. The communities are mostly poor, rural groupings with no industry, often dominated by quasi-religious movements. In more extreme cases, these communities become cults organised well enough to threaten Mega-City One as a revenge for the way the city has treated these outcasts.

Robot Gang league for Pulp Alley

By 2099, artificial intelligence has been mastered and robots have been given consciousness but not freedom. However, sometimes they still go wrong and wreak havoc on Mega City One.

A Very British Zombie Invasion

This is a British take on an American staple. Using the All Things Zombie set of rules.

A gang league from Judge Dredd for Pulp Alley

Image
With a varying population where 98% are unemployed (due to advances in robotics), Mega City One inhabitants range from the lazy and sloth-like to highly rebellious violent criminals, bent on destroying and killing as much as they can for whatever reason they can think of at that time! This is one such gang seeking to do the latter!

An ape gang league for Pulp Alley

Ape Gangs are one of the unique things in the Judge Dredd universe. Originally basing themselves on human gangsters of the 1930s, Ape Gangs eventually found their own identity when they created their own 'Ape' ghettos.

Our whole universe was in a hot dense state...

"I am the law!" - Judge Dredd for Pulp Alley

Here's the profile I put together for a Judge Dredd and Judge Anderson league for Pulp Alley.

Broken Legions

Image
Guess what came in the post today? Pretty obvious really from the title and the picture below. Broken Legions is by Osprey Publishing  and is one of their wargaming sets of rules.  Broken Legions is a set of inexpensive fantasy skirmish rules for "a war unknown to history, fought in the shadows of the Roman Empire. Various factions recruit small warbands to fight in tight, scenario-driven battles that could secure the mystical power to defend - or crush - Rome. A points system allows factions to easily build a warband, and mercenaries and free agents may also be hired to bolster a force. Heroes and leaders may possess a range of skills, traits and magical abilities, but a henchman's blade can be just as sharp, and a campaign can see even the lowliest henchman become a hero of renown". Anyway this gives me an excuse to use my Roman Legionnaires and Ancient Britons that have been languishing in a drawer alongside monsters and creatures from my Frostgrave collection

This is a Pulp Alley league inspired by a Mega City One cult that appeared in the pages of Judge Anderson.

Using Frostgrave for Star Wars

This is something I put together back in 2015 before all the Star Wars miniatures games made an appearance.  In order to use Frostgrave for Star Wars skirmishes, we made the following changes to the core rules. Jedi Knights/Sith Lords = Wizards. Padawans = Apprentices. All other roles can be used. For example, we gave the Marksman profile to the Stormtroopers. A Gamorrean with an axe was classed as a Barbarian. Wizards start with +5 Fight and 15 Armour. Using the above, this then means that apprentices then start at +3 Fight and 10 Armour. Both wizard & apprentice get +2 Fight from using a lightsaber. Only Force users get the benefit from Critical Hits. Force users can cast whilst in hand to hand combat.  Leap can be used on self as well as line of sight characters. Ranged weapons like blasters, don't need an action to reload. Also, we looked at the Frostgrave spell list and came up with lists for Jedi & Sith. Each spell starts at the publ

Clear bases

Image
There has been a recent trend in wargaming of using clear bases instead of the standard black slotta bases. I'm not sure who started this trend, but I first noticed it when the folks over at Pulp Alley showed them in the wargaming reports. Since then, a number of retailers and wargamers have started to use clear bases as their preferred method of basing figures. The theory behind it is that the figure will not look out of place whatever the terrain it is placed on. I decided to take the plunge and ordered some clear 25mm bases from an ebay retailer and decided to rebase some of my resin and plastic figures. I'm still not decided on the look, but gaming companions like the it.  Here's some examples. Imperial Stormtroopers from Star Wars. Mr Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation

Welcome

Image
For years, I had a gaming website ( https://www.freewebs.com/norrins ) that was hosted on freewebs which then became webs.com. At first it was good value for money and fairly easy to use. However, about 18 to 24 months ago, webs.com did a migration which caused I and several others to lose a lot of content from our webpages. Despite being a paid up subscriber and raising numerous support tickets I was never able to restore the missing content. The files are there, but the process to go through to restore them to the correct webpage was tortuous and as a result I refused to renew my subscription with webs.com. So here I am, up on blogger.com for the first time and hopefully having a better experience than with my previous provider. The aim of my blog is share my interest in tabletop gaming, so this will be a mixture of reports of games I have played, what I'm currently working on and anything else remotely wargaming based that I'm working on. I hope you find it in
