The wargaming world of Nozza

Finally finished painting my 3D printed 'Space Orcs'.

I found some 3D miniatures designed by a US designer called Big Mr Tong. His designs are based on some of the most popular sci-fi franchises out there. Fortunately, I found a UK based 3D printing service -  3dkingdoms.co.uk  - and took a chance by making a small order. First up, I ordered some 28mm 'Space Orcs', where I got 5 figures for £7.49. These are obviously based on Gamorrean guards from Star Wars. Space Orcs Here's size comparison with other Star Wars themed miniatures I own. Left to Right: Imperial Assault Officer, Space Orc, Diehard Miniatures not Mando, 2 x Space Orcs and a Frostgrave Jedi (Wizard). The Space Orcs seem under sized compared to the Gamorrean guards seen in The Return of the Jedi, however, they look like the slimmed down guards seen in The Book of Bob Fett. Looking at my 'Mando' figure, I suspect that's 32mm rather than 28mm. Next up, was a bunch of  28mm 'Shock troopers'. Again, these are based on Stormtrooper

I recently rediscovered some pictures from an old game of Pulp Alley, where Dr Who was pitted against the characters of the TV series Ripper Street.

Word got through to Johnny Platypus that Lady Elaine and the Germans had been spotted heading towards the local airport. The Platypus team decided to stake out the airport and attempt to rescue Lady Elaine from the German team. Both sides had to be careful though, the local Constabulary were on patrol and would take a dim view of any gunfire. Turn 1 Moses spotted Séraphine escorting towards the waiting plane. He whistled for his team to join him. Johnny Platypus taking the opportunity to take down a patrolling German soldier. Turn 2 Digger Bob spotted Leutnant Heidrich and decided to engage him in a fight. Unfortunately for the 'Old Timer', Leutnant Heidrich knocked him to the ground. Laney leapt to his rescue,but only succeeded in annoying the German officer. The German soldiers (D8 Grunts) took to the high ground. This gave them a full view across the airport. Turn 3 Moses tried to snatch Lady Elaine away from Séraphine and Oberst Freudenbe

Having safely made it to Karachi, the US Expedition led by Johnny Platypus boarded a tramp steamer heading to British Trans Jordan. Upon arriving at Basra, the expedition took the train to Jerusalem, before boarding another tramp steamer sailing from Jaffa. Whilst sailing across the Mediterranean, Dr Laney Chadwick received a telegram from an old university friend - Lady Elaine Darrow. Apparently, she is quite distraught over her missing father, and she requests our help. She awaits our assistance in French North Africa. Fortunately, the tramp steamer is able to make an unscheduled stop in Algiers.  After asking around, it was established that Lady Elaine had been seen in a particular suburb of Algiers. As we had four ladies walking about the marketplace, either side had to identify which one was Lady Elaine. For the purposes of the game, we agreed that identifying Lady Elaine would be a hard task. However, as Laney and Séraphine were old University classmates,

The Gobi Desert, 1937 Having fought off our intrepid heroes in the last episode, the bandits decided to ransack the expedition's campsite. For the bandits, they had to move supplies and fossils (ten available) to the truck (which held a maximum of six items). For our heroes, it was stopping the bandits by all means possible. Turn 1 The Bandits started in the middle of the campsite. With our heroes starting to deploy, the Bandit leader directed half of his men to intercept the heroes. The remainder would be tasked with loading the truck. Turn 2   With both sides now in sight of each other, it was time for combat to commence. Well aimed shots from Moses's rifle put one of the bandits out of the fight. Moses's joy was short-lived as a sword carrying bandit closed him down. Elsewhere, Johnny Platypus used his trusty shotgun to wound one of the bandits.   Turn 3    Realising that Johnny Platypus was a formidable foe, the bandits headed in his general dire
