You’re my only hope!

Having safely made it to Karachi, the US Expedition led by Johnny Platypus boarded a tramp steamer heading to British Trans Jordan. Upon arriving at Basra, the expedition took the train to Jerusalem, before boarding another tramp steamer sailing from Jaffa.

Whilst sailing across the Mediterranean, Dr Laney Chadwick received a telegram from an old university friend - Lady Elaine Darrow. Apparently, she is quite distraught over her missing father, and she requests our help. She awaits our assistance in French North Africa. Fortunately, the tramp steamer is able to make an unscheduled stop in Algiers. 

After asking around, it was established that Lady Elaine had been seen in a particular suburb of Algiers.

As we had four ladies walking about the marketplace, either side had to identify which one was Lady Elaine.

For the purposes of the game, we agreed that identifying Lady Elaine would be a hard task. However, as Laney and Séraphine were old University classmates, it would be an easy task for them.

At the end of the turn, any unidentified ladies would walk in a random direction.

Turn 1

Both sides spent the first turn moving into the marketplace.

Turn 2

Both sides came into sight of each other. The German soldiers (D8 Grunts) putting their rifle practice into good use by wounding Digger Bob.

Turn 3

Moses approached one of the ladies and successfully identified her as Lady Elaine. However, his reward was to be shot and wounded by Leutnant Heidrich.

Turn 4

Having seen the Platypus team successfully identify Lady Elaine, the German forces rushed to 'rescue' her from the clutches of the Americans.

Although armed with a knife, Séraphine got into a melee with Stanley. Both sides suffering shock as a result.

Laney tried to escort Lady Elaine from the marketplace.

Turn 5

Having knocked out Stanley, Séraphine rushed Laney and the two got into melee, with Séraphine emerging victorious.

Amongst the Palm trees, Johnny Platypus and Leutnant Heidrich engaged in a fight, with the trusty machete of Johnny Platypus being the difference between them.

Turn 6

Seeing Lady Elaine being escorted by Séraphine, Johnny Platypus rushed to her aid. Unfortunately, his pistol ran out of ammunition. To make matters worse, Johnny got into a fist fight with Feldwebel Kohl, whose MP40 inflicted a blow on Johnny.

The game ended with the German team escorting Lady Elaine away from the marketplace. A big win for the German team, who only lost one rifleman during the course of the game. For the Platypus team, a rather dismal showing as only Johnny Platypus was left on the table at the end.
