Klingons on the starboard bow!

Image
Having started to replace my Federation Attack Wing fleet with different models, I then started to look at their adversaries/allies the Klingons. Not happy with the scale and paint jobs of the original Attack Wing models, I decided to look for replacements. Fortunately, I did not have to look too far. I have a sizeable collection of starship minis from different manufacturers such as FASA, ADB and Studio Bergstrom. So the plastic models were swapped out for metal miniatures.  Lastly, I bought a Vor'cha model from the Star Trek Starship Magazine to replace the Attack Wing model. As you can see, this model was in scale to the other smaller ship models. Another annoyance from Attack Wing was that they used the same Klingon Bird of Prey model for both the B'rel and K'vort classes. As any Star Trek fan will tell you, these two ships are different sizes. B'rel vs K'vort Using a Studio Bergstrom model to represent the smaller B'rel class scout

Federation Fleet for Attack Wing takes shape

Image
I got into Star Trek: Attack Wing in 2017 - very late to the party! Having played X-Wing before, the mechanics were very familiar to me and the Star Trek feel played well. One aspect I was not so enthralled about was the quality of the miniatures and their paint jobs. Also, the scale of the ships was completely out too. As a result, I started looking for some alternatives for the ship models. I eventually settled on the models from the Star Trek Starships magazine. In this photo, you can see the replacements for USS Enterprise, USS Honshu and USS Excelsior against the Miranda class (USS Reliant) model from Attack Wing. Starfleet arrives! The ships aren't totally scale with each other, but close enough for me to be happy with them. Also, the ships come pre-painted and detailed! Make it so!

Plas Craft Games EWAR 28 Buildings

Image
In summer 2017, I bought some EWAR 28 buildings from Plas Craft Games . In my rush to order the buildings, I had failed to spot that the buildings came unpainted! As a result, the buildings sat unbuilt on my hobby desk for a fair few months. Although I made a start on painting them, I could never gather the enthusiasm to complete the buildings - didn't help that work was eating up most of my time! As a result of my moaning to my dad about how little time I had to paint, he kindly offered to take the buildings off my hands and complete them. My dad is a model railway enthusiast and making and painting buildings is second nature to him. So on one visit to see my mum and dad, I picked the completed buildings. However, upon arrival I soon discovered that my dad had forgotten to add little details such as the doors, windows and shutters.  All was not lost and soon a production line of mum, dad and me worked on completed the four buildings below.

Call to Action - An Imperial Assault report

Image
Now the summer holiday season is nearly finished, finally found some time to play a game. This time it was a new campaign of Star Wars Imperial Assault using the newly released 'Tyrants of Lothal' boxset.  All the Star Wars material you see is owned by my friend JP and comes from his substantial collection. This is in fact our second attempt at a Imperial Assault campaign. Our first attempt was eventually scrapped due to incorrect book keeping and failing to understand how the side missions worked. In the end, my Rebel Band of Brothers were destroyed in the final mission due to being several levels of ability of where they needed to be! Anyway, onwards and upwards. So, first-up was the 'Call to Action' scenario where my band of rebels had to move some cargo to an extraction point in 4 turns or less. Sounds easy! Mission Set-Up This was where the Empire were initially deployed. The cargo token would be placed in the square next to the Imperial Offi
