Call to Action - An Imperial Assault report

Now the summer holiday season is nearly finished, finally found some time to play a game. This time it was a new campaign of Star Wars Imperial Assault using the newly released 'Tyrants of Lothal' boxset.

All the Star Wars material you see is owned by my friend JP and comes from his substantial collection. This is in fact our second attempt at a Imperial Assault campaign. Our first attempt was eventually scrapped due to incorrect book keeping and failing to understand how the side missions worked. In the end, my Rebel Band of Brothers were destroyed in the final mission due to being several levels of ability of where they needed to be!

Anyway, onwards and upwards. So, first-up was the 'Call to Action' scenario where my band of rebels had to move some cargo to an extraction point in 4 turns or less. Sounds easy!

Mission Set-Up
This was where the Empire were initially deployed. The cargo token would be placed in the square next to the Imperial Officer.

The Rebel Characters
This is line up for my Rebel band. It's worth noting that the figures we used were from the old WOTC range of pre painted miniatures.

Left to right, top to bottom we have Fenn Signis (Rebel Commando), Diala Passil (Force Use), CT-1701 (Clone Trooper) and Gaarkhan (Wookie). I must admit that CT-1701 was picked for the Star Trek connection!

End of Turn 1
This was the scene at the end of Turn 1. Most of the Imperials had been dispatched and there was now room to get to the cargo token (the Imperial token).

End of Turn 2
My efforts to move the cargo token were scuppered when some Empire reinforcements appeared blocking my exit. Again, the Imperials were dispatched but they had prevented me from moving the cargo as far as I would have liked.

End of Turn 3

Choosing to ignore the Imperial troopers (and Loth cats!), the Rebels focussed on moving the cargo nearer to the extraction point. It did mean my Wookie and Clone Trooper were taking the brunt of the damage.

End of Turn 4
Again, ignoring the Imperial troopers, the Rebels focussed on moving the cargo. CT-1701, Diala and Gaarkhan were all able to move the cargo to within one square of the extraction point. Fenn Siglis was the last Rebel to activate and unfortunately he was obstructed by the Imperial troopers. As a result, Fenn could use both his actions to move up to the cargo, but then would not be able to move it. As the scenario was lost, I took the decision to move Fenn to the supply crate to gather a valuable resource for the next scenario.

End Status
This was the state of my team at the end of the game. As you can see, CT-1701 and my Wookie really did absorb a lot of damage.
