Escape with the Fossils

The Gobi Desert, 1937

Having fought off our intrepid heroes in the last episode, the bandits decided to ransack the expedition's campsite.

For the bandits, they had to move supplies and fossils (ten available) to the truck (which held a maximum of six items). For our heroes, it was stopping the bandits by all means possible.

Turn 1

The Bandits started in the middle of the campsite. With our heroes starting to deploy, the Bandit leader directed half of his men to intercept the heroes. The remainder would be tasked with loading the truck.

Turn 2

With both sides now in sight of each other, it was time for combat to commence. Well aimed shots from Moses's rifle put one of the bandits out of the fight. Moses's joy was short-lived as a sword carrying bandit closed him down. Elsewhere, Johnny Platypus used his trusty shotgun to wound one of the bandits.

Turn 3

Realising that Johnny Platypus was a formidable foe, the bandits headed in his general direction. Unfortunately for them, Platypus's trusty shotgun managed to inflict wounds and shock on the bandits.

In the campsite, the Bandit Leader helped his men to gather supplies and load the truck.

Turn 4

With losses mounting from fighting Johnny Platypus, the bandits focussed on the rest of the heroes. 'Digger' Bob falling in hand-to-hand combat for the second game in a row. Moses sought to see off an axe wielding Bandit.

Stanley Chadwick got into melee with another bandit and both rolled around the floor taking lumps out of each other.

Turn 5

With the fighting taking place outside the campsite, the remaining bandits continued to load the truck.

However, seeing his men fall one by one, the Bandit Leader decided to advance and provide covering fire with his trusty pistol.

Turn 6

Realizing that time was running out, the Bandit Leader took the decision to leave with whatever plunder was stowed on the truck - in this case four items out of a potential ten.

The game ended with both sides having two people left on the table. A narrow win for the heroes as they were able to save 60% of their supplies and fossils from being plundered.

With the increase in bandit activity, the heroes struck camp and headed to Karachi (via Lahore), where they would start their journey back to New York.
