Chapter 1: The Waterfront Mystery

This was a Pulp game based on the scenario of the same name for .45 Adventure. However, for this game, we used the Galactic Heroes set of rules.

Ace newspaper reporter Bridget Rouke has got wind of an illegal shipment arriving into New Commerce City. Bridget has passed this information on to 'The Crimson Scarf' and his team for further investigation.

The Warehouse District.
This game is set at night. As a result, visibility was restricted to 6 inches. Any character standing within 3 inches of a streetlight would be fully visible.

Bud and his gang get ready to load the lorry.
There were two teams taking part. The heroes comprising of 'The Crimson Scarf', Bridget, 'Grasshopper' and 'Big Mo'. Their aim is to investigate the illegal shipment by searching the crates.
The other team was the villains comprising of Bud, numerous hired guns and local muscle. Their aim was to load 10 crates of chemicals onto the lorry and dissuade any nosey parkers! Anyone carrying a crate was deemed to have half movement and cannot fire a weapon.

The local muscle look to shift the crates.
The Villains activated first and used the local muscle to begin shifting crates. The local muscle were 'grunts', which meant they activate at the same time but can have different actions. The rest of the villains spread out to create a perimeter for the local muscle to do their job unimpeded.

Grasshopper sneaks through a building.
The heroes mostly kept to the shadows. Unfortunately, Bridget got careless and was spotted by a patrolling hired gun. She got off lightly, suffering just a shock token.

The hired guns fan out.
Alerted to the heroes, the villains spread out. Again the darkness and shadows come to the aid of our heroes.

Grasshopper attacks!

Grasshopper attacked a nearby patrolling hired gun, his batons inflicting blow upon blow on the hired gun. Elsewhere, The Crimson Scarf slipped into the nearest warehouse.

Bang, Bang, click, click!
Seeing a hired gun walk past the open door, The Crimson Scarf opened fire with both guns, putting the hired gun down and out. Fortune favoured the bold as the other hired gun went to return fire but was met by a 'click, click, click' - he was out of ammo.

The following turn saw the heroes have more luck.

Grasshopper strikes!
Both Grasshopper and The Crimson Scarf succeeded in taking out hired guns.

And the champ is down!

After creeping around the neighbourhood, Big Mo decided to get involved. However, his involvement didn't last long. Bud spotted him and with one shot downed him in the road. Never bring big fists to a gunfight!

It was in the following turn that the game turned to carnage.

It's getting dangerous out here!
Grasshopper got felled by some of the local muscle. Bud had moved and spotted Bridget in the gloom. He aimed, he fired, he missed and ran out of ammonution. Bridget paid him back, taking down not only Bud but also the local muscle. The Crimson Scarf took out the hired gun hiding behind the lorry.

As numbers dwindled on both sides, the remaining villains hid behind the lorry.

Justice has a name!
The Crimson Scarf leapt out with guns a blazing, sucessfully taking down the last hired gun. All the villains had left was their local muscle.

Justice has a glass jaw!
However, the local muscle was still potent. Wielding a club, the local muscle swung and connected with The Crimson Scarf. Despite being successful with guns, The Crimson Scarf went down like the proverbial 'sack of spuds'.

The reporter for the win!
Eventually it came down to Bridget and local muscle, with her trusty revolver winning the day. With no-one to stop her, Bridget was able to check the contents of the crates - a discovery that will have ramifications later on!

Back at their lair, Grasshopper and Big Mo fully recovered from their wounds. Unfortunately, The Crimson Scarf would miss the next turn (sore jaw anyone?).
