Expolit Zero - Mission Critical by Patrick Todoroff is a set of miniature wargaming rules designed for small-scale, fast-paced sci-fi skirmishes.  Designed for two players, the game is intended for use with various sci-fi settings between elite three-person teams - known as Direct Action Units (DAUs). Each player commands a DAU comprising a Ronin (ranged specialist), a Razor (melee expert), and a Specialist (medic/hacker). Players engage in missions with hidden objectives, meaning each team may pursue different goals within the same environment. The game employs a streamlined action system where each operative has access to three dice - a D6, D8, and D10 - allocated to perform actions such as movement, attacks, or hacking attempts. Successes are typically achieved on rolls of 4 or higher. Also, a free movement action is allowed as well and this can be substituted for other actions. It feels like a lifetime ago, but when Jezza was a kid, he used to spend time camping in a cottage owned by his Uncle Bob. Bob had a bit of a survivalist streak, and Jezza can't help but wonder if his uncle might still be alive, holed up in that same cottage. If nothing else, some of Bob's survival gear might still be there. Turn 1 After losing Tiff and with The Stig nowhere to be found, Jezza had no choice but to bring in some new recruits. Enter Sabine, a West German national stranded in the UK when the zombie outbreak hit. Armed with a knife and a pistol, she was ready for action. The Wayfinder dropped out of hyperspace with a shimmer of stretched starlight snapping back into stars. Brains deftly guided the aging freighter through reentry, hands dancing across the control panel. “I’ve got the beacon. Plotting for the settlement now.” Cap’in leaned over his shoulder, eyes scanning the glowing readouts. She pointed toward a cluster of rugged hills at the edge of the valley. “Set her down in the shadow of those cliffs on the outskirts. I don’t want anyone making off with the Wayfinder while we’re in town.” Brains nodded and adjusted course without a word. The ship landed with a gentle thud, its engines cycling down in a dusty haze. The ramp lowered, and the crew stepped into the arid wind. “We’re making our way to the town on foot,” Cap’in said, tightening her cloak against the gusts.
