The Treasure of Cad Bane Part 1

Introducing the Blue Viper and it's crew.

The crew of The Blue Viper

The crew have found an incomplete map that leads to the fabled treasure of Cad Bane. The crew know the planet the treasure is on, but not where it is. Word has come through that a contact on the planet Mesteh may have the other half of the map.

Unknown to the crew of the Blue Viper, another crew is after the map and won't stop until they get it.

The competition

The Blue Viper crew had two aims
  1. Get the other half of the map.
  2. Get to the safety of the Blue Viper.
The competition simply had to acquire the two halves of the map.

Both sides look for the missing map

A Joker card got played which meant that a sandstorm hit. This limited line of sight and reduced weapons ranges. Also, it meant the suspected map carriers moved in a random direction.

OK, who's got the map?

Another Joker ended the sandstorm and moved the suspected map carriers again. The two sides came into sight of each other and this led to blaster fire being exchanged.

Pew, pew!

Both sides spread out, heading to the nearest potential map bearers.


One by one, the potential map bearer suspects were narrowed down, until the owner was located. This led to both sides converging around the map bearer.


Both sides rushed their remaining units towards the map bearer. Blaster fire breaking the silence of the day.


One by one, the crew of The Blue Viper succumbed to blaster fire, leaving their numbers thin on the ground for the final push for the map.


One plucky team member got to the map. All he had to do was get it to the waiting Blue Viper. It was getting tense with competition closing in on him.


Blasters were fired. A successful 'Out of the Game' result was negated by the 'Pet' ability. It only prolonged the inevitable. The sheer amount of blaster fire caused the Shock tokens to mount up and the game was conceded.


A very entertaining game of FFoL.5 Renown Points for the competition team (I do need to give them a better name).

The second part is already planned...

Inspired by the 'Attack Tribble' that appeared in an episode of Star Trek: Picard, I found some suitable miniatures that would lend themselves to gaming. The Attack Tribble from Star Trek: Picard I purchased these Triblite sculpts (designed by Lost Heresy) from a TwistedPinnacle3D on Etsy . The sculpts needed a little TLC upon arrival, as a few of the Triblites were misprinted. Also, some of the base rims had broken and neded repairing. Triblite Queen and Swarms protect their nest. More Triblite Swarms. I managed to create some Xenos Rampant stats for my Klingons and Triblites and had a quick game with them both. Klingons attack the Queen. Triblite Swarms charge some Klingons. Klingons find themselves surrounded by Triblites.

Ambush at the Canyon - A Fistful of Lead game.

Woohoo, first game of 2024! This time we dived into the 'For a Fistful More: Scenarios for Fistful of Lead' scenario book. Picking the first scenario ' The Waterin' Hole ' as the basis for the game. Whilst on a manhunt for the 'Bad Hombres' gang, Marshal Bill and his posse have stopped for some rest and much needed meal. What the Marshal doesn't know is that the 'Bad Hombres' led by Ricardo are about to spring an ambush in the canyon. The posse start surrounding the camp fire. The 'Bad Hombres' start on the high ground in the canyon. Also, they took up the option of  placing a gang member in reserve, with the caveat that he turns up at one end of the canyon within the first three turns. Marshal Bill would get 5 Renown points for killing or capturing Ricardo. Also, he would get 1 Renown point for each of the 'Bad Hombres' killed or captured. 28mm 3d printed Star Trek style warp shuttle

Earlier this year, there was a Kickstarter run by 2nd Dynasty for some 28mm compatible spaceships. I was pleased to see that one of the ships (a shuttle) was available as a Warp Shuttle variant and looked very suitable for Star Trek. However, my initial interest was then dampened by the fact that the Kickstarter was just for the files and that you would have to print the ships yourself. Not having a 3d printer, I let my interest wane. My interest was recently renewed by a couple of threads on Lead Adventure Forum and The Miniatures Page. Another wargamer had one of the 2nd Dynasty ships custom printed for him. More importantly the printer they used was based in the UK. Having found their website ( https://www.proteus3dmodelling.com/ ), I sent them an email asking if they could print the Warp Shuttle version. Imagine my joy when they replied with a yes!
