Spearhead from Space Part 1

Inspired by Forces TV replaying old episodes of Doctor Who, I dug out some figures and created some crews to recreate a game inspired by the 3rd Doctors era.

The premise was simple, a crystal containing a fragment of the Nestene Consciousness had landed in the vicinity of an old farm. Both UNIT and the Autons knew the rough whereabouts of the crystal and sought to acquire it.

Possible locations for the crystal were represented by a green token. The token would require a hard task search for any non-alien and an easy task search for any alien.

An Auton inflicts a wound on Captain Yates.
The first turn was spent moving around the board.

Autons come under fire from UNIT.
With the opposing crews coming within sight of each other, shots were exchanged. UNIT troops inflicting some early wounds.

The Brigadier discovered the missing crystal. This alerted the Autons, and they headed in his general direction.

The Brigadier raced out of the farm building, grasping the crystal. It looked like UNIT would be the early victors. However, UNIT joy turned to dismay as the Autons managed to shoot and knock the Brigadier 'Out of the Fight'. The crystal was up for grabs again!

The loss of the Brigadier incensed UNIT. Sergeant Benton ran towards the crystal, only to be shot down by the Autons.
 
The Doctor rushed to the scene. An Auton shot at the Doctor, inflicting an 'Out of the Fight' result, which got downgraded to a wound. Unfortunately, the Auton's second action was another successful shot which did send the Doctor 'Out of the Fight' this time.

Elsewhere, Sergeant Benton fought the Auton Leader for ownership of the crystal, eventually winning in close combat.
 
UNIT formed a human barrier between the Autons and the crystal. Both sides exchanging shots and inflicting wounds.


At the 3rd attempt, Captain Yates managed to grab and secure the crystal. The remaining UNIT troopers managed to see off the last Auton, securing a win for UNIT.

Woohoo, first game of 2024! This time we dived into the 'For a Fistful More: Scenarios for Fistful of Lead' scenario book. Picking the first scenario ' The Waterin' Hole ' as the basis for the game. Whilst on a manhunt for the 'Bad Hombres' gang, Marshal Bill and his posse have stopped for some rest and much needed meal. What the Marshal doesn't know is that the 'Bad Hombres' led by Ricardo are about to spring an ambush in the canyon. The posse start surrounding the camp fire. The 'Bad Hombres' start on the high ground in the canyon. Also, they took up the option of  placing a gang member in reserve, with the caveat that he turns up at one end of the canyon within the first three turns. Marshal Bill would get 5 Renown points for killing or capturing Ricardo. Also, he would get 1 Renown point for each of the 'Bad Hombres' killed or captured. We're all going on a Tribble hunt!

Inspired by the 'Attack Tribble' that appeared in an episode of Star Trek: Picard, I found some suitable miniatures that would lend themselves to gaming. The Attack Tribble from Star Trek: Picard I purchased these Triblite sculpts (designed by Lost Heresy) from a TwistedPinnacle3D on Etsy . The sculpts needed a little TLC upon arrival, as a few of the Triblites were misprinted. Also, some of the base rims had broken and neded repairing. Triblite Queen and Swarms protect their nest. More Triblite Swarms. I managed to create some Xenos Rampant stats for my Klingons and Triblites and had a quick game with them both. Klingons attack the Queen. Triblite Swarms charge some Klingons. Klingons find themselves surrounded by Triblites.

28mm 3d printed Star Trek style warp shuttle

Earlier this year, there was a Kickstarter run by 2nd Dynasty for some 28mm compatible spaceships. I was pleased to see that one of the ships (a shuttle) was available as a Warp Shuttle variant and looked very suitable for Star Trek. However, my initial interest was then dampened by the fact that the Kickstarter was just for the files and that you would have to print the ships yourself. Not having a 3d printer, I let my interest wane. My interest was recently renewed by a couple of threads on Lead Adventure Forum and The Miniatures Page. Another wargamer had one of the 2nd Dynasty ships custom printed for him. More importantly the printer they used was based in the UK.
