Black River Blues - A Fistful of Lead game.
This is another scenario from 'For a Fistful More: Scenarios for Fistful of Lead'.
Two rival gangs converge at a ford along the Black River, each holding a captive from the other side. But as they attempt a tense prisoner exchange, chaos erupts: a startled gang member on one side panics at the sight of a snake and accidentally discharges his pistol. Tensions snap, and both sides, feeling betrayed, unleash a storm of gunfire!
Gang 1 comprised of Sam Chisholm, Marshal Pete, Bill Rocks and Red Harvest. Their captive was the Deputy at the back in the picture below.
Turn 1
Both sides maneuvered, using the forest as cover. Those with rifles took careful shots from a distance, aiming at any movement among the trees.
Turn 2
Gang 1 deployed both Marshal Pete and Red Harvest to guard the riverbank and engage Gang 2 from a distance. However, neither managed to land a hit on the opposing side.
In response, Gang 2’s members with ranged weapons seized the opportunity to target them. Pedro fired first; his initial shot missed, but his second struck home, resulting in a critical roll of 10 on the wound table—Marshal Pete was out. Jorge followed up, hitting on his first attempt and rolling a 9, taking down Red Harvest as well.
In just four dice rolls, the tide of the game had dramatically shifted.
Turn 3
Marshal Bill and Billy Rocks engaged in a gunfight on the right side of the table. Marshal Bill eventually ducked out of sight behind a tree, while Billy Rocks continued his attack, forcing more members of Gang 2 to seek cover among the trees.
However, Billy Rocks' eagerness left him exposed. Once again, Gang 2 seized the opportunity, taking him down as he crossed the river.
Turn 4
As the last surviving member of Gang 1, Sam Chisholm moved cautiously forward, keeping his captive positioned as a human shield.
Turn 5
With their larger numbers, Gang 2 pressed forward across the river. Yet, they hesitated to fire at Sam Chisholm, wary of hitting his hostage.
Sam Chisholm took aim at Jorge and shot him down with his trusty pistol.
Turn 6
Marshal Bill and Jorge charged at Sam Chisholm with courage. Sam managed to fend off Jorge, but Marshal Bill overpowered Sam, knocked him out, and rescued the captive.
With Sam knocked out, the game was over. Gang 2 claimed a major victory, successfully rescuing their missing man with only the one casualty.
