Mission 3: Purge

A last game of Nightwatch before the second lockdown starts in the UK.

This time, our Pact has been tasked with destroying some erected totems (three Canopic jars) and were bolstered by four new d6 melee hirelings

Turn 1

The Pact decided not waste any time and spend all their actions getting as close to the totems as possible. However, bad dice rolls left Freddo alone and exposed on the left flank.

Two groups of zombies and skeleton warriors spawned. The first group headed straight to our isolated Halfling. The second group sought to defend the nearest Canopic jar from some d6 Melee Hirelings.

Turn 2

Freddo used his 'Flash' powder to escape from the zombies. However, poor dice rolls left him next to a totem, but unable to smash it.

The two d6 Melee Hirelings managed to get to another totem. However, poor dice rolls meant that they were unable to destroy it. Both Hirelings were lost in melee combat with some zombies.

More zombies and skeleton warriors spawned. Again, they sought to protect one of the totems.

Turn 3

Gandwarf used 'Elemental Fury' to destroy the zombies near a totem. He then free moved to the totem and destroyed it with his trusty sword.

For the third game in a row, Legolan was ineffective with his bow. He eventually destroyed one zombie, but found himself within range of a spawn point and was eventually attacked by zombies, causing him to suffer a wound.

Turn 4

Gandwarf decided to take charge. Using 'Superior Arcane Evasion', he sidestepped the skeleton warriors. With sight of Gimmi, Gandwarf cast 'Aetherial flight' on the dwarf warrior. As a result, Gimmi flew next to the remaining totem and used his axe to smash it. The Pact had achieved their objective.

Epilogue

A shorter game than the previous games. However, the tension was steadily increasing due to the mechanics that Nightwatch uses.

Gandwarf was the stand-out star for the Pact, casting 4 spells and eliminating four zombies and two skeleton warriors. Legolan killed a zombie, and any remaining kills were achieved by our d10 Ranged Hirelings. Giving the  Ranged Hirelings the high ground made them much more effective in this game.

A total of 27 silver was generated by the Pact, with most of that being spent to recruit a d10 Melee Hireling to replace the lost d6 Melee hirelings.
