Massacre at Briar's Bend - Star Wars Redux

Aa always, a Star Wars version of a scenario from the 'For a Fistful More: Scenarios for Fistful of Lead' with the third scenario "Massacre at Briar's Bend".

An Imperial Army vehicle has suffered a power loss and has been left stranded in hostile territory. A distress signal has been sent out, but it will be some time before assistance will arrive.

A local native tribe have spotted the stricken vehicle and plan a revenge attack on the Imperial invaders.

The natives start in two groups of 5, in the opposite corners not covered by woods.

To add a bit of drama to the game, the game length would only be determined at the start of Turn 6. Rolling a D10, a result of 1-6 would mean the game lasts 6 turns, any other result would the number of turns the game lasts.

The natives on the other side of the river used both their turns to advance to the river. Unfortunately, they were spotted by some Imperial Troopers, whose blaster fire was enough to inflict some casualties.

Although armed with primitive weapons, the natives forced some Imperials to seek cover.

The natives armed with melee weapons sought the cover of the rocks for protection.

The start of Turn 2 saw the native strike first. An arrow taking out an Imperial Trooper.

Emboldened by their shooting success, the rest of the bow armed natives advanced across the river.

The natives armed with melee weapons rushed forward and sought ot engage the Imperial Troopers in hand to hand combat. Unfortunately for the natives, the dice gods favoured the Imperials and two Imperial Troopers managed to take down three of the natives.

Turn 3 saw both the natives and Imperials trade ranged fire in a game of hide and seek around the rocks.

Turn 4 saw the Imperial Officer shoot and knock down the last remaining native melee fighter. Again, Imperial blaster fire forced the natives to duck back into cover.

Sensing the game was getting away from him, the native player changed tactics and tried to hunt down the Imperial Officer. The Officer led by example and dispatched a native in melee combat and successfully downed another with his blaster pistol.

Turn 5 finally saw a native arrow hit the Imperial Officer. However, his men laid down covering fire with their blaster rifles, wounding many of the natives.

Having rolled the dice at the start of turn, we knew that this turn was the last. The natives managed to eliminated another Imperial Trooper, however his comrades got revenge by downing a native.

The battle came to end with sound of incoming Imperial shuttles responding to the distress call. Only 3 natives remained out of the starting 10 (all the survivors suffered varying degrees of shock) and they disappeared into the forest.

For the Imperials, only 3 out of the original 5 remained. The Officer had been wounded but was expected to make a recovery.

Points wise, the natives earned 12 points (5 per dead Imperial and 2 for the wounded officer) and the Imperials earnt 14 points (2 per dead native), meaning a narrow Imperial win.
