Another scenario from 'For a Fistful More: Scenarios for Fistful of Lead' with the first of a three part linked scenario.
Miners at a gold mine have gone on strike and the mine owners have dispatched some armed thugs to retake the mine. Ricardo and the rest of the 'Bad Hombres' has heard about the strife and spy an opportunity to loot some gold. Some Native American braves see this as an opportunity to regain their ancestral land back too.
Each team had 5 members and they each had different objectives in this scenario:
- The armed thugs would receive 2 points of Renown for each miner killed or runoff. They would receive 10 points of Renown if at the end of the game they controlled the mine.
- Ricardo and the 'Bad Hombres' would receive 5 point of renown for each bag of gold they exit the table with.
- The miners would receive 5 point of renown for each bag of gold they exit the table via the opposite corner with. They would receive 10 points of Renown if at the end of the game they controlled the mine.
- The braves would receive 1 point of renown for every model (outside their team) that was killed or exited the table. They would receive 10 points of Renown if at the end of the game they controlled the mine.
Each team deployed in a corner of the table.
Turn 1
The first turn was spent moving the various teams. The braves set-up a skirmish line in the rocks.
The thugs and the 'Bad Hombres' came to an informal agreement to let the thugs have the mine and the 'Bad Hombres' the gold.
The miners assumed a defensive position around the mine building.
Turn 2
The braves spotted the armed thugs in the open. Although armed with old muskets, their gunfire took out two thugs.
One of the miners popped out to take a shot and was gunned down by a 'Bad Hombre'.
Turn 3
The thugs and 'Bad Hombres' had almost made it to the mine. The miners put up a stout defence, which included throwing sticks of dynamite at the attackers - although their aim left a lot to be desired!
Another miner was gunned down by the 'Bad Hombres'.
Turn 4
Seeing the other gangs kill each other, the braves decided to advance.
The miner with the dynamite fumbled a stick and it blew up at his feet. Fortunately it knocked him down with just a wound.
Turn 5
The braves fired their muskets and then advanced to engage the gangs in melee combat.
Turn 6
'Ferocious' in melee, the braves started to eliminate the opposition.
With the miners distracted by the armed thugs, the 'Bad Hombres' helped themselves to the gold bags.
Turn 7
As the 'Bad Hombres' began to move the gold bags off the table, one of the miners was killed by an armed thug.
Turn 8
Between the last miner and the braves, the armed thugs were eliminated from the game. However, the braves started to accumulate wounds and lose warriors.
Turn 9
With the armed thugs gone and the braves beginning to press, the 'Bad Hombres' took the opportunity to escape.
Two teams were left, a solitary miner defending the mine against a couple of braves.
Turn 10
In the end, the game was decided by a one man fight. The last remaing brave getting the better of the last miner and reclaiming the mine and its grounds for his tribe.
Conclusion
A fun four way battle with each team seeking different objectives, which led to different styles of play, which led to very different results for each team.
- The braves finished top with 25 points (15 points for other models killed or exited the table + 10 points for possession of the mine).
- 'Bad Hombres' finished with 15 points (3 bags of gold).
- Armed thugs finished with 4 points (2 miners killed).
- Miners finished with 0 points.
4 way shoot up!!
