Mission 2: Defend

Having survived the ambush in the previous mission, the Pact reached the relative safety of a lightly fortified encampment. At the camp, the Pact met up with four ranged hirelings, which helped to bolster the Pact numbers.


Turn 1
 
Unfortunately, the Forces of Darkness had successfully tracked down the Pact and sought to eliminate them. As a result, the Pact spent the turn getting everyone into defensive positions.

Sure enough, wondering zombies soon approached the encampment.


Turn 2
 
Having assumed a defensive posture, the new ranged hirelings let loose with their bows. Unfortunately, they missed their targets.

Gandwarf stepped up and unleashed 'Elemental Fury', taking out four zombies in one go!


Turn 3
 
Fortune now favoured the ranged hirelings, with the zombies slowly eliminated by a combination of arrows and spells.


Turn 4
 
The various ranged hirelings finally earned their keep by eliminating the zombies with their arrows.


Turn 5
 
Having had enough of fighting defensively, Gimmi the dwarf rushed forward and attacked a group of zombies. Unfortunately, his attack left one remaining zombie. Freddo rushed up to dispatch the remaining zombie and failed all his melee attacks. Gandwarf tried the same and suffered the same result. 

To top it all off, the enemy spawned twice right in front of the trio and engaged them in melee.


Turn 6
 
The situation was beginning to look dicey. Zombies and skeleton warriors had successfully breached two sides of the camp. The power hitters for the Pact (Gandwarf & Freddo) were left isolated, fending off zombies.


Turn 7
 
Seeing the camp was in danger of being swamped, Freddo used his 'Flash Powder' to slip away from some skeleton warriors. Steadying himself, Freddo then threw consecutive 'Explosive Grenadoes', to remove all the skeleton warriors and zombies on his side of the camp.

Gandwarf used his spells to remove the remaining skeleton warriors, and Legolan killed the last remaining zombie.


Epilogue
 
Again, a very different game to the previous ones we have played.

Gandwarf and Freddo were again the stars of for the Pact. After some earlier set backs, Legolan and the other ranged hirelings managed to have an impact. The only character who had a disappointing outing was Gimmi (again).

Body count was as follows:
  • Gandwarf 10 zombie and 5 skeleton warrior kills for a total of 60 silver.
  • Freddo 13 zombies and 5 skeleton warrior kills for a total of 69 silver.
  • Legolan 6 zombies and 1 skeleton warrior kills for a total of 24 silver.
  • Gimme 2 zombie kills for 6 silver.
Gandwarf cast 8 spells and Freddo used 7 potions/grenadoes.

The Pact recovered Bebban's Dazzler, which was then sold at the Mercado. Three tokens were acquired and assigned within the Pact. 

Lastly, the Pact hired four additional d6 melee hirelings.

Inspired by the 'Attack Tribble' that appeared in an episode of Star Trek: Picard, I found some suitable miniatures that would lend themselves to gaming. The Attack Tribble from Star Trek: Picard I purchased these Triblite sculpts (designed by Lost Heresy) from a TwistedPinnacle3D on Etsy . The sculpts needed a little TLC upon arrival, as a few of the Triblites were misprinted. Also, some of the base rims had broken and neded repairing. Triblite Queen and Swarms protect their nest. More Triblite Swarms. I managed to create some Xenos Rampant stats for my Klingons and Triblites and had a quick game with them both. Klingons attack the Queen. Triblite Swarms charge some Klingons. Klingons find themselves surrounded by Triblites.

Ambush at the Canyon - A Fistful of Lead game.

Woohoo, first game of 2024! This time we dived into the 'For a Fistful More: Scenarios for Fistful of Lead' scenario book. Picking the first scenario ' The Waterin' Hole ' as the basis for the game. Whilst on a manhunt for the 'Bad Hombres' gang, Marshal Bill and his posse have stopped for some rest and much needed meal. What the Marshal doesn't know is that the 'Bad Hombres' led by Ricardo are about to spring an ambush in the canyon. The posse start surrounding the camp fire. The 'Bad Hombres' start on the high ground in the canyon. Also, they took up the option of  placing a gang member in reserve, with the caveat that he turns up at one end of the canyon within the first three turns. Marshal Bill would get 5 Renown points for killing or capturing Ricardo. Also, he would get 1 Renown point for each of the 'Bad Hombres' killed or captured. 28mm 3d printed Star Trek style warp shuttle

Earlier this year, there was a Kickstarter run by 2nd Dynasty for some 28mm compatible spaceships. I was pleased to see that one of the ships (a shuttle) was available as a Warp Shuttle variant and looked very suitable for Star Trek. However, my initial interest was then dampened by the fact that the Kickstarter was just for the files and that you would have to print the ships yourself. Not having a 3d printer, I let my interest wane. My interest was recently renewed by a couple of threads on Lead Adventure Forum and The Miniatures Page. Another wargamer had one of the 2nd Dynasty ships custom printed for him. More importantly the printer they used was based in the UK.
